Ibrahim Kalin is a Turkish bureaucrat and academic who currently serves as the Presidential Spokesperson and Senior Advisor to the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Early Life and Education

Kalin was born in Ankara, Turkey on September 15, 1971. Kalin received his B.A. from the University of Istanbul and Ph.D. from George Washington University under the supervision of Islamic philosopher Seyyed Hossein Nasr.

Career

From 2002 to 2005 he was a faculty member at the Department of Religious Studies at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He later served as the director of the SETA Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research in Ankara, a think-tank focused on Turkish domestic and foreign policy.

In 2007, Kalin was appointed as the Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In this role, he served as the Prime Minister's chief advisor on foreign policy and domestic affairs. He played an instrumental role in shaping Turkey's foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East and the Caucasus regions.

In 2009, Kalin was appointed as the Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he served as the chief architect of Turkey's "zero problems with neighbors" policy. This policy aimed to improve Turkey's relations with its neighboring countries and reduce tensions in the region.

In 2010, Kalin was appointed as the Presidential Spokesperson and Senior Advisor to the President of Turkey, a position he holds to this day. In this role, he serves as the President's chief advisor on foreign policy and domestic affairs, and is responsible for communicating the President's message to the media and the public.

Throughout his career, Kalin has been a strong advocate for Turkey's role as a leading player in the international community. He has also been a vocal critic of Western foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East and the Caucasus regions.
