Kenya Announces East Africa Halal Expo & Forum 2026 to Promote Regional Halal Trade
Kenya has announced the East Africa Halal Expo & Forum 2026, scheduled for May next year in Nairobi, with the aim of connecting local businesses with international partners and opening new avenues for halal trade, certification, and investment.
Organised by the State Department for Foreign Affairs, the forum will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including government officials, private sector leaders, international trade organisations, certification agencies, and diplomatic missions from across the globe.
Representing Principal Secretary Dr. Korir Sing’Oei, Ambassador Jacklyne Yonga, Deputy Director General of Parliamentary and County Liaison Affairs, highlighted the government’s strong support for the initiative. “This Forum aligns with Kenya’s foreign policy goals of economic diplomacy, inclusive trade, and values-based development,” Yonga said. “It reinforces Kenya’s role as a trusted gateway between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.”
By convening experts and leaders from various sectors, the Expo aims to boost investment, raise certification standards, and create new trade opportunities for East African businesses in the global halal market. Yonga further underscored that Kenya’s move into the halal economy is both a strategic economic decision and a reflection of the country’s diverse, inclusive identity. With its vibrant Muslim population and business-friendly environment, Kenya is seeking to blaze a trail in halal innovation on the African continent.
