New App Swaplyst Lets Users Trade Skills for Experience and Community Impact
A newly launched app called Swaplyst wants to make it easier for people worldwide to trade skills for experience through volunteering, internships, and peer-to-peer exchanges. Founded by Jordanian social entrepreneur Kamel Al Asmar, Swaplyst is a mobile platform that lets people exchange skills, time, and volunteer work for hands-on experience and community impact.
The app marks the return of Al Asmar’s earlier mission through Nakhwah, the region’s first volunteer-matching platform created 16 years ago and discontinued in 2018. Now based in Abu Dhabi, Swaplyst uses AI and natural language processing to match users with opportunities across volunteering, internships, and direct skill exchanges.
A Purpose-Driven Alternative to Traditional Volunteering Platforms
Swaplyst addresses a growing demand for flexible, interest-driven ways to learn and contribute. Users create profiles listing skills they can offer and areas they want to grow in, then match with individuals and organizations for internships, volunteer roles, or skill swaps. Startups can post real internship tasks, and nonprofits can list project-based volunteer opportunities.
The app’s AI engine interprets natural-language inputs to suggest matches without lengthy forms, borrowing the simplicity of social apps while centering purpose instead of engagement metrics.
Swaplyst is now live in beta on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, open to users worldwide. It targets students, early-career professionals, and anyone looking to learn through real work.
